Qawwali Music (Pakistan)

Only a few span the border from India, Pakistan heartbeat of life vibrated strongly. There was another world behind the frontier.
In a flash, India was a country full of color, poor Hindu hermit who hang around, people who slept on the pavement, and the Sikh pilgrims with a special 'surban', memorable stay away. Lahore was the city unfold in front felt dry. Dust fly. The men wore same clothes - too big shalwar trousers and a long kamiz to the knee with the edge in the second. Color shalwar and kamiz usually the same, to provide accents monotone. Women almost didn't seem at all. Even if seen on the road, only one or two, turned jet black veil and left only a pair of eyes only.
Welcome to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
My body was weak because of disease that I suffered. My appetite has started normal, but now I have to be careful choosing food. If was in Amritsar yesterday I still could ate Chinese soup nutritious and delicious, in Pakistan I was difficult to find food. Overall oily. Because of this jaundice, i felt queasy when I see the oily food.
Finally, I had to sit in a luxury restaurant 'Pizza Hut', in the street main Mall Road. This restaurant was located on the second floor of building a shop. The floor shone brightly, the price was expensive, and beef - where in India there be gods - here in Pakistan served on the table as food. But the most surprised me there was a beautiful servant girl, speaking English with elegant, black long hair, short skirt and put on red knee-high. Surely not the face of Pakistani women who will be found in the streets.
"Previously when I was in India," an Australian backpacker around me started to share his experiences about Pakistan, "have a new friend who came from Pakistan ?" asked him, "In Pakistan, you will see a country without women" he talked seriously. Of course I laughed, which have such a country. But, when I arrived in Lahore, I am really surprised where were the woman ? God sake ... impossible. Then when I went to Peshawar, the women less more. They apparently were so rare creatures here, i thought.
According to the book Among the believers any posts wholesaler Nobel literature VS Naipaul was being read by me, Pakistan was a country that stood up in a dream to become a pure land of civil and sacred for Muslims. Since Zia-ul-Haq bloody coup d'etat to overthrow Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, political Islam more incentive in this country. Sharia was applied. Friday became a holiday replacing Sunday. Rajam law, rule hudud, sect of Ahmadiyah until died sanction for person pr people who did blasphemy Islam. Pakistan also began to experiment with various things that smell religious, from the Islamic economic system, Islamic government, Islamic house architecture. Pakistan today has bank for women and a car parking place for women.
As expressed by Naipaul, Islam in Pakistan also mixed with the culture of pre-Islamic. Here the spiritual life Sufisme has mystic, which was tap the heart of Islam in India, Pakistan, to the countries Central Asia. On previous, Sufisme was original Islam grew fertile in this hemisphere and until now still exist.
Islamic customs mixed with life of Islam such as visited and prayed sacred place. Holy place was Data Darbar or Data Ganj Bakhsh, where Hazrat Syed Abu Hassan's graveyard. He was a teacher of Sufi fom Iran. This holy place was an icons of the city of Lahore which will be visited by many people especially on Thursday and Urs (memorial died day) in the Hazrat.
I didn't see how crowded Urs day, but I swept away in mystical strain Qawwali music held every Thursday. Qawwali music was the wave of Islamic cultural roots of India and Pakistan. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the name of Pakistan most famous qawwali musicians in the world. Qawwali songs contained worship. Words possessed soul. Poeple got & felt hipnotyzed and felt happy without ended when heared holly and majesty of 'Asma Allah'.
Floor space in the basement filled with the Data Darbar. There were only men. Women did not appear at all. They sat on the floor. Once a man sat in the middle of the line watch and brought a tube of fragarant sprayer. Scent of rose brought freshness accompanied traditional music.
Not less than 40 groups came from across Qawwali villages around Lahore. Qawwali musicians all men. In Muslim tradition in Pakistan women not sing in front of men.
The musicians sat on stage row in two lines. At the front line, in front of a microphone, there was the main vocalist and harmonium player - a kind of musical instrument was a small music tool coming from the air pipe like an acordion. In back row there were accompanist singer with clapped their hands. Clapped hand with striked the drums were an important part in the qawwali music.
I catch some lyrics Urdu language like, "came the beloved heart, come ..." or "Lord, the beloved, where are you?", Or "Allah hi Allah balls, just say the name of God!" In the Sufi tradition, God was described as beloved heart. Qawwali lyrics raised its devotion to the Lord, sometimes a long rebound strength, sometimes fast, and dynamic along with clapped hand and striked of the drums.
It became Ecstasy spiritual. Music has amazing hypnotic power. Listener could be aware with shoke their heads without stopping. Suddenly an old bearded grandfather stand up, spin around in front of the stage, getting faster, he got rebound into spiritual happiness. The other person gave 10 Rupee hailed the musicians with money without stopping.
No need to understand the meaning of words qawwali songs. Strain of lyrics and note already reflected the strength of spiritual infinity. Middle of night, in a sacred place in Lahore, I witnessed the power of Sufi music is even more awesome again.

Independence Gate (Pakistan)

"Pakistan creates a distance between us, we split brotherhood. No more need to continue our war". It was a newspaper article in the Indian lower rubric opinion. Both neighboring countries has been hostiled since birth. Pakistan created out of British India in 1947 when the people of India have given the Muslim countries themselves. Pakistan means "the Pure", idealist Muslim nation was a country that stood on the purity and sanctity of Islam. However, controversy was always coloring history the two countries, which seemed to spread hate each other. Remember the case of bombs in New Delhi that necessarily made point directly India to Pakistan as scapegoat? Remember how difficult India and Pakistan people to get visas also vice versa? People used the word India Pakistan as the most abusive indignation - "Chalo Pakistan", meaning "go away from here to Pakistan. Why Pakistan is always portrayed as a place full of tanks Fire misery?. Why image in Pakistan and India is only black and gray?
India and Pakistan have a border line around 3000 kilometers, but only one official border opened. Wagah border very quiet, except in the afternoon when a decrease in the flag ceremony took place. Not many people can travel, because India visa nearly impossible for the Pakistani people, and a visa to Pakistan the same difficult for India. Unfortunately, many strangers across this border even today was very different. Right on the final day of my due India visa ended, at same time there was a historic day for the relationship the two countries. Here on gate of India I saw tens of kid dressed dancers. Dressed white vest with colors, completed with surban a fan-shaped. There were red, orange, green, yellow, blue. They were the Bhangra dancers, a traditional dance the pure land of Punjab, accompanied by sound of drum and dhol with flute.
"Today is a bus will come from Pakistan," said a TV cameraman with a happy smile, "This is a historic event as signs between India-Pakistan have better relationship." I saw the bus crawled slowly on the back gate Pakistan.
"They come! They come!" People cried. Bhangra dancers directed to leap vessel possessed. Sounded of tambourine, drum, flute were mixed. My late in the atmosphere seemed delight. Bus acrossed slowly, the white line that marked the border of two countries. Creeped across the entrance gate, India. Voice of thunderous were. Most Indian officials people with the Sikh surban they were ready to deploy with a bouquet. When officials of the Pakistani bus came , they spreaded of flower, kissed cheeks, rave, and delight Bhangra dancers.
"Bus from Lahore to Amritsar will help people re-approach between the two countries," said Hasim Khan, Pakistan Director of Tourism Development Corporation (PDTC), important officials in Pakistan this entourage. He promised to ease visa, consulate building in Amritsar so that local people need not far to New Delhi to make a visa, and hopes will make this relationship better between two countries. Doosti means Friendship, so bus service is called, will bridge the relationship with the people of Lahore Amritsar. I turned into the excitement, the sound of Bhangra danced was grateful mercy.
Although I'm not the people of India or Pakistan, after so long here, they said the language, ate the same food with them, I felt happy on way they celebrated it. How the beautiful future of South Asia if the enmity the two brothers is ended. Cross-border bus, though only a small part of the long road towards peace, it showed how they being longing to return in peace.
Border back in quiet when a Pakistani bus contains important state officials left slowly place Amritsar. Bhangra dancers were suddenly silent. Indian army border, with a hat like a paper fan, were back in silent. "NAMASTE!" I said separation in India. Ashoka lions, the national symbol of India, India was the last of the visible in my eyes. Ready to come into Pakistan.
"Baab-i-Azadi," written above the gates of the letter in Urdu. Independence Gate. This gate was built in 2001 to commemorate the hundreds of thousands of Muslims who died in the journey to reach their homeland during the holy separate Pakistan from India. Pakistan green flag flied everywhere. Pakistan crescented and stared. Pakistan army border dressed in black and wore a hat like a fan.
Compared to the border of modern India Pakistan border was more simple and full of a family atmosphere. The immigration Officials sit relaxed under a tree, chatted, and spent a bore. Who will not bored working on the border quiet as this. I invited to drink tea, yack and took photos. My passport was just only seen at a glance. Visa checked under the light that was usually used to counterfeit the money. On the wall contained a list of countries prone to be self-reported to the police Arriving in Pakistan, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Israel, Iraq, Bhutan, Nigeria, Yemen, Serbia, and of course not forget, India.
Immediately, I was already in the bus to Lahore, 30 kilometers from the border. Pakistan was contrast with India. Open air streets, rows of houses slums, a puff of dust everywhere, made me felt like in the deserts. This was a world which located only a few span of the land of India. Pakistan, the world forbidden.

Change Your Mood - Build Own Happiness

Sunday, bright day ... hot ... calm ... relax ... and most important ... my weekend.
As usual, i spent much time at room, lie on bed, saw above my roof top which i put glow in the dark-stars and moon stickers, wondered what i would do through day and just let my body, soul & mind relaxed and loafing on bed .
Time passed by til i saw the sun more and more high, signed the noon already came. I saw time from my cell, felt surprised cuz already 12.30 pm, then ... look ... i still didn't do any. It was not what i want for my Sunday ... what for i spent my luxury and expensive day just being like this. For note Saturday, Sunday and luckily extra holiday really luxury and expensive times for me. I sit on bed felt upset why should i spent most waiting day with lazy, loafing and useless. Oh ... i just felt my mood turn into bad .
Then, i push my body to stand, grabbed my towel, tied my hair, went to bath, got papaya bath scrub, wore nice dress, brushed my hair, and sprayed bulgari rose essential perfume. Suddenly i felt my mood turn into good as before ... It was what i want for, ready to kill time by time til my Sunday ended .
I am wondering now, with small things, my mood change easily like i turn my palm up and down. Being happy in life so simple, just enjoy the time, feel good, positive, grateful and treat yourself alike you treat your precious thing (my opinion).
.
Anyway, i found more how to be happy in life then here they are :
  1. Please and please forget your past : One of the keys to happiness is a bad memory (quote of Rita Mae Brown). There’s nothing you can do about the past, so you’d better let them go and focus your energy on the present .
  2. Take responsibility in life : The secret of Happiness is Freedom, and the secret of Freedom, Courage (quote of Thucydides). You shouldn’t blame someone else when something goes wrong, take the responsibility and you have the power to choose.
  3. Build relationship : Life’s truest happiness is found in friendships we make along the way (quote of no-name). Only through relationships can we love and be loved.
  4. Develop multiple passions : The more passions and desires one has, the more ways one has of being happy (quote of Charlotte-Catherine). Expand yourself to new passions. This way you will create new ways to happiness.
  5. Build character : Character is the basis of happiness and happiness the sanction of character (quote of George Santayana). When you are true to yourself and others, you will be in peace.
  6. Be who you are : The summit of happiness is reached when a person is ready to be what he/she is (quote of Desiderius Erasmus). You can only be happy if you become who you are. Don’t live other people’s life by trying to meet their expectations.Ouw ... really pity people who live for other expectations. It is useless ... please never do that.
  7. Live your life purpose : The only true happiness comes from squandering ourselves for a purpose (quote of William Cowper). find what the matters to you and build the courage to follow it.
  8. Count your blessings : Happiness will never come to those who fail to appreciate what they already have (quote of no-name). Look at what you have and soon you will have plenty of reasons to be happy. See ... grateful is right option to take right ... so ... start from now ... being grateful ... and everything is enough for you.
  9. Have positive mind : It is not the place, nor the condition, but the mind alone that can make anyone happy or miserable (quote of Roger L’Estrange). Your mind can make or break you, so guard it well. And now look this ... have positive mind is always good choice right.
  10. Work creatively : Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort (quote of Franklin D. Roosevelt). Being creative means found flow which allow you to achieve high productivity and being happy at the same time. But ... this part really hard to do specially for me, as work in accounting field. Come on ... i have learned accounting about 3 and half year in collage then work really hectic year by year with number of money but how i should find 'the flow ?'. So more easy to start liking your job will be better right.
  11. Start with what you have : The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise grows it under his feet (quote of James Oppenheim). Happy people don’t need certain job or certain level of income. Instead, they learn to be happy with what they already have. Wow ... it is too great ... i wish my friends can read this, specially for them who always less with their salary ... come on guys ... you have good place to work and why you always feel sorry with your income ... so pity.
  12. Change : They must often change who would be constant in happiness or wisdom (quote of Confucius). Being happy requires you to constantly grow in this way will change you into good and better and me ... i always avoid being best cuz ... i don't like much things.
  13. Use your talents : True happiness involves the full use of one’s power and talents (quote of Douglas Pagels). Using your talents fully will make you even happier because of the satisfaction of doing your best. I very interest in art, cooking and writing. More and more i know, those are my talents. I feel grateful cuz God gives me those talents, so when i need happy time that talents really help me a lot.
  14. Beware of small things : The happiness of most people we know is not ruined by great catastrophes or fatal errors, but by the repetition of slowly destructive little things. (quote of Ernest Dimnet). Small leaks can sink your ship of happiness, so beware of them.
  15. Distill your ambitions : Where ambition ends happiness begins (quote of no-name). While wanting to achieve more in your life is good, being obsessed by it is not.
  16. Make others happy : Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself (quote of Ralph Waldo Emerson). The more you help other people and make them happy, the more you will be happy.
  17. Practice compassion : If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion (quote of The Dalai Lama). it requires practice. Start with thinking about the people around you. Look at their needs and find ways to meet them. Even if you don’t do it out of compassion in the beginning, your compassion will grow over time.

Well, you can read and find many ways even steps to make yourself happy, but everything will work depends yourself. No one on this world not want being happy, everyone wants it. I have my own ways to make myself happy and i am sure you must have your own ways being happy. Happiness can't count and no limit, find your happiness and share to the world .

Dreams

Not always but sometimes i get bad dreams. I wonder, how that happen ? and how it looks so real for me. Finally, i find this article at least it helps me to know what cause make bad dream.
  • Anxiety and Stress
Anxiety and stress, often as the result of a traumatic life event, are sometimes the cause of nightmares and bad dreams. According to the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD), a major surgery or illness, grieving over the loss of a loved one, and suffering or witnessing an assault or major accident can trigger bad dreams and nightmares. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is also a common cause of recurrent nightmares.
  • Spicy Foods
When and what we eat may affect our nighttime rest, if not our tendency toward bad dreams. A small study published in the International Journal of Psychophysiology had a group of healthy men eat spicy meals before bed on some evenings and compared their quality of sleep on nights where they had non-spiced meals. On the spicy nights, the subjects spent more time awake and had poorer quality sleep. The explanation is that spicy food can elevate body temperatures and thus disrupt sleep. This may also be the reason why some people report bad dreams when they eat too close to bedtime. Though few studies have looked at it, eating close to bedtime increases metabolism and brain activity and may prompt bad dreams or nightmares.
  • Fat Content of Food
Though far from conclusive, some research has indicated that the more high-fat food you consume during the day, the greater the chance that the amount and quality of your sleep may suffer. A small study published in 2007 in Psychological Reports found that the dreams of people who ate a high amount of organic food differed from those who ate “junk foods.” The authors hypothesize that certain foods may negatively influence dreaming.
  • Alcohol
Though alcohol is a depressant that will help you fall asleep in the short term, once its effects wear off, it can cause you to wake up prematurely. Excess consumption can also lead to nightmares and bad sleep; nightmares are also a common occurrence for those going through alcohol withdrawal
  • Drugs
Some drugs, including antidepressants, barbiturates, and narcotics, can cause nightmares as a side effect. For instance, a 2008 study published in the journal Pyschopharmacology looked at ketamine, a drug used in anesthesia and recreationally, and found that compared with a placebo, ketamine use resulted in more dream unpleasantness and increased the incidence of bad dreams. Similarly, anyone who has traveled to a country where malaria is endemic may have taken Lariam and had some interesting nightmares associated with it. Nightmares usually cease once the drug is cleared from the system.
  • Ilness
Illnesses that include fever, such as the flu, can often trigger nightmares. And other sleeping disorders, including apnea and narcolepsy, may also increase the incidence of bad dreams and nightmares.
Uhm ... for anxiety and stress , fat content of food and ilness could be cause of my bad dreams, but for rest i think ... it is not match for me. Cuz i am not drink alcohol, not use drugs, even not like spicy food. Let me keep my basic since long 'dream is just dream, just let it be the way'.
.
So, there is meaning about dream, check this out :
  • Being Chased
This threat can take the form of a menacing person or a strong emotion with which you are having difficulty coping.
  • Missing an important because you are late
This can indicate regret over a missed opportunity, inability to make a connection, or desire to pull oneself together.
  • Finding yourself at work or school naked
Not surprisingly, Freud interpreted dreams about being naked as repressed sexual wishes. But the most important part of this dream is the feelings that are involved. You suddenly find yourself exposed, vulnerable, and awkward. What area of your life corresponds to that feeling? Figure this out by noting where you are, who notices you, what part of you is exposed, how people react to you, and how you yourself react to the situation
  • Falling
Falling indicates feelings of insecurity and lack of support. Perhaps not surprisingly, this particular dream is most common among professional men and women. The dream’s meaning is probably not so clear-cut. Feelings of isolation, the sense of being without the support and affection that success cannot provide.
  • Flying
Flying dreams as boasting about sexual powers. The important part of the dream is how you are flying; since the flying itself represents your ambitions, are you flying successfully, or trying and failing to fly as high as possible? From there, they make the leap to feelings of sexual inadequacy, but such feelings of low self-esteem could cover inadequacy of any kind, not just sexual.
  • Losing your teeth
Dreaming about losing your teeth can indicate insecurity about your appearance, or even fears of sexual impotence, as teeth are often used to flirt with a desired partner. We also use our teeth to bite, chew, and tear, so losing them can mean a loss of power or fear of getting old. Interestingly, this dream is most common among menopausal women, perhaps for all of the above reasons.
  • Snakes
Snakes signify some hidden threat. This makes sense, as most of us fear the “snake in the grass.” Like most other symbols, though, this one has many meanings that depend on context. Snakes shed their skin, so they may signify renewal and transformation. This may be a frightening experience, as most people are uncomfortable with change, or it may be very positive.
Ouw ... if that so the meaning is, i will note that. But how i note and remember my dream then ... hehehe ... seems today is my lucky day, this article really help me a lot. Find some ways to remember a dream, here these ways :
  • Keep a Dream Journal
Once you’ve got your journal, drawing a line down the middle of the page; on the left side of the line, write your dream. On the right side, give your interpretation of it.
When writing down your dreams, don’t worry about grammar, punctuation, or the sequence of events. Concentrate on getting it all on paper as fast as you can before it fades away.
  • Give Your Dreams a Title
This can be an effective way of remembering aspects and clue of your dream without journaling right away.
  • Use Pictures Instead of Words
Put and keep a sketchbook by your bed with a pencil nearby. When you wake up, draw images you saw in your dreams. They don’t have to be masterpieces of art, just stick figures or colors you remember.
  • Create a Map
If you dream about running down a windy canyon road, but the only thing you really remember is the canyon, write the word “canyon” in a bubble, then start branching off and drawing other bubbles off of that. One of the bubbles can have the word “road” and one “running”.
  • Wake Yourself Up
Try waking yourself up at different times of the night to remember more dreams. Set an alarm for early in the morning and when it goes off, challenge yourself to remember what you were dreaming.
  • Get Yourself in the Right Mind Set
Before going to bed, say aloud, “I will remember my dreams tonight.” When you wake up, lay still in bed for a couple of minutes, eyes closed, and try to remember. Once you start remembering, sit still a little longer and try to reach for more. To get yourself motivated to remember dreams, it may also be helpful to read a dream book before going to bed.

I just want to be wise in money in 2009, saving ... saving ... buy what i 'need' but please consider to buy something that i 'want'. 'Cause 'need' on things usually will use long lasting but 'want' on things usually will make me buy another and others.
